Our lady of Lourdes Chapel
Our lady of Lourdes Chapel is situated on hilly plateau in Calizor ward, the area admeasuring 12,249 square meters. As per the plan No. 12517 of the Comunidade or Moira.
The chapel was originally meant for the two wards of Attafondem and Calizor. It was built by the inhabitants of the two wards. Raim ward became part of the chapel much later in the 1950s as per the archives evidence. Presently the three wards affiliated to the chapel of Lourdes are Attafondem, Calizor and Raint. The ward Calizor seems to derive its name from the reflection of the black clay that forms at the bottom of the rivulet that marks a large part of its boundary. And Attafondem stands for the nature of its fields that do not allow the use of plough and require ‘hat foddni’ or the use of hand implements to till the ground.
